What is NGSS?
NGSS, Next Generation Science Standards, are K-12 science standards that outline science topics/concepts to be covered during a particular school year; what they should know and be able to practice. NGSS was developed by the states to improve science education for all students.
Click here to view the standards students will be exploring this year in the 6th grade.
During the course of the year, students will engage and explore within the NGSS science and engineering practices. The practices are just that, concepts and skills that students will be practicing in the classroom.
These are a set of concepts that can be identified throughout the three pillars of science: Earth & Space Science, Life Science and Physical Science. These concepts are a means to explaining the nature of science as we observe it on a daily basis.
