Forces & Motion Bell Ringer Folder
1 . Conduction
2. Convection
3. Radiation
Students will be exploring three different types of thermal energy through hands on labs, activities and stations.
For their final assessment, students will conduct a research project. The task: students must build a house that will protect their penguin from rising global temperatures through the use of conduction, convection, and radiation.
1. Every object in motion will stay in motion unless an external force is applied to it.
2. The resulting force is equal to mass times acceleration.
3. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Students will be exploring Newton's 3 Laws of Motion through various hands on activities, labs and stations.
1. Kinetic Energy
2. Potential Energy
Students will explore kinetic and potential energy through activities, hands on labs, and stations.
For their final assessment, students will build their own personal skateboard park. Students will be asked to include different obstacles, different levels, and explain the application of kinetic and potential energy.
Students will then present their skateboard parks to the entire school and their families at the Skateboard Park Expo! I will send a letter home to families that provides all the details.
HELP!
This lab is quite material heavy! In order to conduct these labs and projects, I am in need of the following recycled materials: toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, cereal boxes, lids of cardboard boxes (preferably the boxes that carry printer paper) and dixie cups. If you can donate any of these materials to our science class that would be wonderful!
