Note Taking

Note taking is important for every student. A semester can become long and tiresome often there is a lack of motivation attached to attending class, but it is one of the most important factors in academic success. Once you're in class, notes are something everyone has to take, not only does it help us to retain what happened in class and important materials, but it gives us a reason to attend class and pay attention.

Sometimes it is hard to stay focused while in class. Notes give us a way to stay focused. Instead of wondering off during lecture try to keep a record of what is happening. Even if the professor shares lecture notes with students keep your own personal notes, even if that means coming up with acronyms or anecdotes for concepts. You could also try drawing as a form of notetaking. Draw concepts, graphs, or stuff that will connect back to the lecture.

Lastly, you can use these notes as a way to study. It's easy take lecture notes and rewrite them in a more organized format. You can use mind maps, Cornell notes, or just structure them differently. Even just rewriting notes in the same format will increase your recall abilities.
