S.M.A.R.T. goals:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Timely
This type of goal setting is utilized all over especially in education platforms, but it is often misused by the people making the goals. Many times our goals are lofty and more of a wish or dream then something we believe we can actually do. This is what we want to avoid with SMART goals.
Triangle goals is a similar concept to SMART goals you still want you goal outline to meet those parameters set by SMART goals. They should still be attainable and relevant.
The main difference is how you structure the steps instead of having them appear in separate and linear fashion, triangle goals organizes steps short to long term goals/steps.
So the bottom row is tasks that you need to do immediately to help you achieve your goal. This could be talking to a professor, or booking an appointment with a tutor or coach.
The next levels is tasks that you need to do throughout the semester to achieve your goal like going to tutoring or a weekly study group.
The last box is what you plan to achieve if you accomplish the tasks set out in the other two boxes. This could be passing a class or getting a specific GPA for the semester.
Just remember that whatever goal you choose make sure the outcome is possible if you follow the steps listed.
