Thank you to all of our families and students! You have not only survived but thrived during this first full week. I want to apologize for the multiple emails being sent. As we navigate the new system, I am trying to communicate often and clearly, but somehow wires got crossed. I will do my absolute best to limit emails in the future. More information in the Beat!

The Sevie Social (for 7th graders) is tomorrow (August 21st) from 6-8pm hosted by our fabulous PTA. You can donate to their Amazon wishlist here. Families, please drop off and pick up by 8pm. Students are allowed to have their phone. If they would like to leave early, we must see a parent. We can walk them out.
Next week, Biology and Geometry will take an assessment that is new in the district called TEKS Ready. The assessment is meant to be finished in one class. Students will take this in the beginning of the year and at the end to measure their growth. In the upcoming weeks, we will keep you posted about more contents that will also take this assessment.
Our PTA worked very hard last year raising money to have tables put into our courtyard.... and the wait is over! The tables will begin being installed by early next week. Thank you PTA!
PTA also purchased several microwaves for students to use in the cafeteria. We will begin letting students use those next week.
College Day is every Wednesday (Go Kansas!) and Harwood Spirit Day every Thursday!
We have a pep rally next Friday that is USA themed!
Several clubs begin meeting next week. Be sure to check the calendar!

Bus Transportation

Requesting Bus Transportation for a Student

If a parent did not request transportation during registration and now needs to request transportation, please direct the parent or guardian to complete this Transportation Request Form:

Please do NOT use the checkbox in Skyward to add transportation to a student’s record.

Completing the form allows parents and guardians to review important transportation rules and regulations, confirm whether their home address is eligible for transportation, and submit the information needed by the Transportation Department before service is established.

Adding an Authorized Guardian

If a parent needs to add a guardian or another authorized individual who may receive their student from the bus, the parent must also complete this Student Release Form:

School Pictures

School picture ordering is now available. Families who would like to order in advance can use the prepay link below through Tuesday, August 18:

By ordering through the prepay link, families will receive free shipping to Harwood Junior High and have access to discounted package options.

Families may also choose to wait until picture proofs are available. Proofs are expected to arrive by the end of next week, and each student will receive a personal proof and unique access code to view and order their pictures.

Please note that orders placed after receiving the proof will not include free shipping to the school. Those orders will be shipped directly to the family's home address.

New club

Harwood Heat

Harwood Heat is Harwood’s student media club! Students will create videos, podcasts, interviews, and campus news while learning real-world skills in broadcasting, journalism, and digital media. Whether you want to be on camera, behind the camera, or on the mic—Harwood Heat is your place to tell Harwood’s story!

Our first meeting is Tuesday, August 25, after school from 3:45–5:00 p.m. in Room H106. Come check it out and help us turn up the Heat!

Morning and Afternoon Dismissal

Front driveway is reserved for school buses only.

All parent/guardian drop-off and pick-up traffic must use the North Parking Lot.
Students may enter the building through the Front Entrance or the North Entrance.
