Message from PTA:
Dear Harwood Teachers, Students, and Families,
On behalf of the Harwood Junior High PTA, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support, encouragement, and membership this year. Your involvement is making a real difference on our campus and helping us strengthen opportunities for our students and support for our teachers.
As Harwood continues to grow and adapt, one thing remains constant: the power of our community. Every PTA membership, volunteer hour, donation, and act of support helps create a stronger, more connected school for everyone.
Because of you, we are making an impact. Together, we are helping our students succeed, supporting our outstanding staff, and building a campus community we can all be proud of. The Harwood community is the heartbeat of our school, and your support means more than you know.
If you have questions about PTA or would like to get involved, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me at:

7th Grade Volleyball - October 5
Last night your 7th grade girls volleyball team took on North Oaks Middle School. The B Team waltzed into two easy wins, 25-18 and 25-7. Players of the game were Taleeyah Belepe, Cristina David and Ainsley Hicks. The A Team had to fight a little harder to secure both of their wins against North Oaks. Outstanding players for A Team were Addison Linton, Emma Evans, Everly Morgan and Caterine Acosta. Great job ladies!
7th Grade Football - October 5
The 7th Grade A Team put together an incredible performance last night, shutting out North Oaks 32–0 in a game that showcased the toughness, discipline, and TEAMWORK of these Blackhawks!
From the opening whistle, our defense set the tone and never let up. The Blackhawks played fast, physical, and together, creating opportunities all over the field and keeping North Oaks off the scoreboard for the entire game.
Offensively, it was truly a team effort. David S., Chase A., Anthony S., Montrell A., August B., and MANY MORE Blackhawks contributed in big ways throughout the game. Whether it was making a key block, finding a lane, making a tackle, winning a battle at the point of attack, or simply doing their job, this team showed exactly what happens when everyone believes in the man next to them.
A special congratulations goes to our Players of the Game: Lincoln M., the OTHER Lincoln M., and Quinton C.! These athletes stepped up and made their presence felt when their team needed them most.
A 32–0 shutout is impressive, but the best part of this victory was seeing an entire team continue to grow, compete, and believe in one another.
And we are NOT DONE YET!
The Blackhawks are back in action next Wednesday against Watauga Middle School at Haltom High School. Come out, get loud, and support these young men as they continue to chase bigger goals and accomplish more together.
8th Grade Football - October 6
Last night, the 8th Grade Harwood Blackhawks traveled to Old Birdville Stadium to take on the North Oaks Mustangs.
The Blackhawks came out aggressive and ready to play from the opening whistle! The Hawks struck in all three phases of the game in the first half, scoring on a 65-yard punt return, a 30-yard fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, and another touchdown on the ground. Harwood took a commanding 20–0 lead into halftime.
The Blackhawks kept their foot on the gas in the second half, adding two more touchdowns while the defense completed the shutout. When the final whistle blew, Harwood walked away with a dominant 36–0 victory!
Standout players of the game were Adrian Pena, Tyler Savage, and Liam Robertson, who made big plays and helped lead the Hawks to the win.
Great job last night, fellas! Continue to work, continue to improve, and KEEP POUNDING THE STONE on your way to greatness!
9th Grade Football - October 1
What a night for Trinity Football as the Trojans took on South Grand Prairie!
The B Team battled hard in a tough-fought matchup, finishing with an 8-8 tie! Tyrone S. came up big with some impressive catches and helped make some key plays when the team needed him most!
The A Team came out firing and dominated the competition with a 28-6 victory! Brandon Danna found the end zone with a big rushing touchdown, while Princeton Mimms made a huge impact with an impressive fumble recovery!
With the win, the A Team improves to an incredible 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district play!
Let’s give a huge shoutout to all of our players and coaches for their hard work, toughness, and commitment! Keep that energy high, keep working, and KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING, T’S UP!!
Students of the Month
Congratulations to our October Students of the Month!
7th Grade: Jason Zgardowski and Catherine Acosta

At Harwood, we are a No Opt Out school. Every student is expected to attempt and complete their work.
This year, we adjusted Late Work Lunch to give students more opportunities to get help before LWL. Each subject has one assigned LWL day each week, giving students time to attend tutorials and complete missing work beforehand.
If the work is completed before LWL, the student does not have to attend. If it is still missing, the student attends LWL, where a content-area teacher is available to help.
Our goal is simple: provide support, require effort, and help students get their work done.
Missing Work → Tutorials → Late Work Lunch → Detention if Needed
Work completed through the LWL process may receive a maximum grade of 50.
