Beginner Band

We kicked off the third six weeks of school this week! The beginners recieved thier new checklist and many of them are already working hard to earn stickers and their next Make Music medal. Beginners have received their first piece of Winter Concert music titled, Penguin Promenade. For our woodwind and brass students, this is their first test grade of the six weeks due on Make Music today!

• What was your average for the 2nd six weeks? What can you do to earn a spot in the 100+ club?

• Have you completed your Penguin Promenade on Make Music?

Concert Band

Congrats to these awesome students listed who have made the 2nd six weeks 100+ club! Many of these students are in the club for the second six weeks in a row! To earn your way in this six weeks, stay on top of completing Winter Concert music pass offs and be ready to play in class on flow studies and technique lines. Rehearsal got better and better each day through this week, let's make Monday a great rehearsal!

• Have you played every note and rhythm in Haunted Sleigh Ride?

Symphonic Band

We are just 1 week away from the HEB Honor Band auditions. This has been our main goal in sectionals since we began in August! Students should be working to play their etudes more musically; adding appropriate style and dynamics. HEB Honor Band auditions will take place on November 19th and 20th (see more info below) at Hurst JH. Students will be assigned a time slot between 5pm-9pm - they should plan to be there for approximatly 1 hour. Don't foget about our masterclass next Friday, November 15th from 5:30-6:30pm. We have hired professionals on every instrument to help the students put the finishing touches on their auditon prepartation!

• Have you passed off all of your HEB Honor Band scales and chromatic? What scales do you think they will select for the audition?

• How many BINGO squares have you completed on your performance BINGO (due Friday, November 15th)?

Jazz Band

Today we picked out some solos to perform at our Bedford Tree Lighting and Christmas Cafe. If you haven't gotten the paper copy yet, see me on Monday! During this time of year (and due to the limited number of rehearsals between now and our performances) we will host a couple saturday jazz rehearsals! These are obviously optional but the more people in attendance the more we can get done. Rehearsal dates are listed below.
