Mrs. Johnson is excited to begin her 12th as Director of Bands for Bedford Junior High after serving as the assistant band director for two years. Mrs. Johnson grew up in Denton, TX where she began her teaching career, serving as an assistant director at Crownover MS and head director at Strickland MS. During her eighteen years as a music educator, Mrs. Johnson's bands have been perennial UIL Sweepstakes winners, best in class award winners and were most recently chosen to perform at the Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mrs. Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas in 2008. While at North Texas, she was active in many ensembles and activities. Mrs. Johnson participated in the Concert Band, Brass Band and Basketball Band. She was also a four-year member of the Green Brigade Marching Band where she served as the Student Assistant to the Director for two years, as well as Trumpet section leader, Drill Technician and Librarian. In 2006, she was selected Bandsman of the Year by her peers.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, and North Texas Student Music Educators. Currently, she is a member of TMEA, TBA and TMAA.
Mrs. Johnson is happily married to Dr. Kendrick Johnson who is an assistant principal in Eagle-Mountain-Saginaw ISD. They have a sweet and handsome son Ryland James who was born on January 27th, 2022 and a fiesty and beautiful daughter Eleanor (Ellie) Jade who was born on April 25th, 2024. In her free time, Mrs. Johnson enjoys doing her daily Wordle, reading and running (very slowly)! Mrs. Johnson loves all things Disney and visits the happiest place on earth as often as her husband will allow!
