Join us every 2nd week of the month to make eco bricks or grab a bottle and make them at home. Every completed eco brick wins the students 50-100 House Points.
Every term we host a plastic collection drive. Hosue Points to the House with teh most ammount of plastic. With the plastic we reuse as eco bricks and sell on to fund our Mangrove Project.
We are building a culture of eco-bricking across the HeadStart Community facilitating activities, campaigns and competitions to encourage learners to create eco-bricks, both in and out of school, from plastic waste that cannot be recycled or repurposed. Completed eco-bricks are collected by the school to be used on projects such as the Foundation Growing Garden.
As part of our Eco Committee’s mission to reduce waste and protect the environment, we’ve launched the Eco Bricks Project. Students collect non-biodegradable trash and tightly pack them into used plastic bottles to create “eco bricks.”
These bricks are strong and durable, and we plan to use them to build a fun and safe garden area for the foundation stage children at HeadStart International School. It’s a creative way to recycle plastic and turn waste into something useful and meaningful for the school community!
Get a plastic water bottle.
Clean the bottle.
Have some trash such as plastic bags, crisp packets, etc.
Put the trash, ideally cut up, in the bottle and push it down. You can use a stick to push trash easily.
Repeat the fourth step until you can't push down. Make sure the brick is really hard and weigh 400-500 grams - then you are done :)
Bring it to the HeadStart Eco School Coordinator and claim your House Points.
