This scholarship is for students who have made a significant impact on their community involvement. Personal circumstances and/or challenges are considered as part of the application process. Important: this application requires a letter of recommendation from your school (Principal, Guidance Counsellor, or Teacher), and two letters of support from the Community Groups with which you have been involved. A student with the support of an OSSTF/FEESO member who has worked directly with the student, will submit an original piece of writing, visual art or video based on this year’s theme, “This Hits Different. The Power of Language” The eight provincial winners will receive a cash award of $1,000 and will be invited to the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Annual General Meeting in Toronto to receive their award.

Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities and community service.

The scholarships are intended to inspire and encourage young Canadians to seek the high ideal that Terry Fox exemplified, through the pursuit of higher education.
Award Criteria:
In good academic standing.
Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school
Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.
Amount: The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years.
