This domain recognises the different levels of representation and accomplishment in the student’s co-curricular involvement in school or other external organisations. Representation refers to being selected and endorsed by an organisation (e.g. the school or community club) to contribute, compete or perform at an event. Self-representation or personal participation (e.g. performing at a concert with no endorsement from any organisation) is not recognised.
- MOE Student Development Curriculum Division (15 February 2019)
There are broadly speaking two different categories of achievements that can be recorded - CCA based and non-CCA based (e.g. academic competitions). Some guidelines include:
Achievements attained through self-representation (voluntary sign-up) can be recorded but no Achievement Level will be awarded (e.g. Australian Mathematics Competition).
All intra-school activities (e.g. CSM, Inter-class Debate Competition) will be capped at Level 1 regardless of achievement.
For students who represented in non-award/achievement based events:
For students who represented in award/achievement based events:
For students in the four Uniformed Groups - National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), Scouts and St. John Brigade, they can also earn Achievement Levels through their badge attainment as shown below, on top of representing the CCA or school in UG HQ competitions/events.
Note:
Students are expected to join a CCA where they can, one day, get to represent the CCA/School at events/competitions organised for the CCA. This will ensure a minimum Level 1 attainment for this domain. This is one key reason why most CCAs have limited intake so as to have sufficient opportunities for all their members.
All UG members upon satisfying the badge attainment - a core component of the UG curriculum - will be able to attain Level 3 by the end of Secondary 4, regardless of whether they are able to represent the CCA/School in UG HQ events or competitions.
In Hwa Chong, the following academic-based events/competitions can be considered under Achievement:
Olympiad Invitational Round(s)
Presenting projects at invitational events (e.g. Singapore Science and Engineering Fair, Future Problem Solving Programme)
The following events/competitions can be recorded in LEAPS but will not be accorded any Achievement Level:
Project Work (High Distinction, Distinction, etc.)
Academic competitions with voluntary sign-up (e.g. Olympiad Round 1, Australian Science Competition)
Model United Nations (Best Delegate, Best Speaker, etc.)
