Getting Started on Flute
Below are links to videos on how to get started on your instrument.
Dear Beginning Flutists!
It was a joy and an honor to be your Perry Middle Jump Start instructor.
Flute is a wonderful, versatile instrument you can enjoy for your entire life!
Sadly, it is easy to develop habits we do not want because we are so eager to make sounds. Happily, I've got you covered with an intentionally curated playlist.
Please take my advice!!! Take this "quiz" and watch all 4 of these short videos.
Practice with your wind director EVERY DAY for 5 minutes with a MIRROR.
Practice with your head joint EVERY DAY for 5 minutes with a MIRROR.
Practice holding the flute correctly EVERY DAY for 5 minutes with a MIRROR.
Practice fingering the 1st five notes (do NOT play) EVERY DAY for 5 minutes.
You will make more progress in less time without developing sad habits.
Flute will be something you look forward to instead of something you avoid.
Happy Fluting!!
