The Hermosa Schools Counseling Program participates in and coordinates several week-long activity events during the school year. We encourage you to review the events below to see what's happening in the 2025-2026 school year.
Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE)
Year-Long
Hermosa Valley School is proud to continue to partner with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) for the 2025-2026 school year to provide Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) to our Hermosa Valley students.
This year's program will include:
Educational and interactive assemblies and workshops
Tobacco Prevention Toolkit classroom lessons developed by Stanford Medicine for all 7th grade students
Youth conference on tobacco-use prevention
Referrals and support for students and families affected by tobacco-use
Parent education

Start with Hello Week at HVS
September 15-19, 2025
All HVS students (TK-8 Grade) will again participate in The Sandy Hook’s Promise National Start with Hello Week from September 15-19, 2025! Start with Hello teaches students the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their classroom, school, or youth organization. The Start with Hello week will be filled with fun and inclusive school-wide activities. Learn more by checking out the flyer.
Red Ribbon Week at HVS
October 27-31, 2025
Hermosa View, Vista, & Valley Schools are participating in the National Red Ribbon Week from October 27-31, 2025. This year's theme is "Life Is A Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free." The Great Kindness Challenge Week at HVS
January 26-30, 2026
HBCSD will be joining schools across America and creating kindness by taking part in The Great Kindness Challenge 2026! From January 26-30, our HVS students and staff will be encouraged to engage in acts of kindness through daily themes and activities. All of which focus on care, respect, and inclusion. This week is designed to recognize and promote kindness across our Hermosa Schools and beyond. A Kindness Week Flyer with information about what fun activities are planned at HVS will come out in mid-January 2026..
National School Counseling Week at HVS
February 3-7, 2025
HBCSD is celebrating the American School Counselor Association's National School Counseling Week from February 2-6, 2026. Our Hermosa Schools Counselors will use the week to promote a collaborative approach to supporting students to highlight the important role of school counselors in schools.
Mental Health Awareness Week at HVS
May 4-8, 2026
Join HBCSD in recognizing May as Mental Health Awareness Month by celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week from May 4-8, 2026. HVS students and staff will recognize the importance of mental health through daily themes, activities, and discussions to support their mental health.
