We encourage everyone to become radio-active: (Practice with other stations in your community.)
Everyone with an appropriate FCC license needs to participate in Amateur Radio Nets frequently.
When you sign up for this Comex you will be in the communications loop and invited to the Hot Wash.
It helps everyone to know which stations are active in each community.
We all need to help each other. Many community service organizations have new operators who may be monitoring. Unlicensed listeners are more likely to get licensed and participate when they can listen to others on the air to learn how we operate.
Practice passing messages with other local stations.
With any type of radio transceiver, you can pair up with someone using the same type of radio service and practice passing a SitRep. All that you need is someone to practice with. People often prefer to use simplex. (Radio to Radio.) Some are uncomfortable making mistakes on repeaters, where it is more likely that other stations would be listening.
If you are not licensed under FCC Part 97, Amateur Radio Service then you may still have options for participating in the Comex. See the section on FRS & GMRS radios.
