HotWash:
The purpose of the hotwash is to collect together information and comments in writing from participants about how things went during the exercise. We hold an on-line meeting and may include an on-line survey form. It is important to describe what worked, what didn’t, and any questions that you may have encountered. Information from the HotWash is documented, and used to generate the After Action Review and Improvement Plan. (AAR/IP)
After Action Review / Improvement Plan:
This Simulated Emergency Test is designed to follow methods and best practices defined in the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program. (HSEEP) The AAR/IP is a part of the Exercise Life Cycle. The AAR report is used to develop an improvement plan. The various stakeholders involved work on a timeline for making improvements to plans, procedures, and stations.
