Gain first-hand experience in synthesizing, characterizing and testing new materials through paid, undergraduate research experiences through the UH-UW Materials Research & Education Consortium!
MATERIALS FOR SPACE, ENERGY & THE ENVIRONMENT
Develop advanced materials that exceed the capabilities of currently available materials, examples include:
Improve technologies that generate and store energy
Develop structural materials that withstand higher temperatures in space
SEEKING STUDENTS
a strong engineering, chemistry, environmental science or physics background
analytical mindset
good computer skills
prior lab experience preferred, but not required

Research
Work in a paid undergraduate research experience (10-20 hours/week), gaining first-hand research experience in state-of-the-art materials science laboratories.
Exchange
Through our partnership with the University of Washington (UW), students may be eligible for summer exchanges, internships and/or coursework with both institutions.
Participant Benefits
Academic Year: up to $5000 stipend per term for participation in a MRE-C undergraduate research experience (10-20 hrs/week)
Summer at UH: up to $9000 stipend for participation in a MRE-C summer undergraduate research experience at UH (20-40 hrs/week)
Summer at UW: All expenses paid 8-weeks MRE-C summer undergraduate research exchange at the University of Washington, WA!
