The purpose of Kawehena Project's Summer Bridge Series is to provide first-year graduate-level Kawehena participants who will be starting at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in the upcoming Fall semester with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with UHM and grad school life. This five-day intensive bridge aims to ease students' transition to grad school and increase their probability of success by providing experiences and seminars designed to support their personal, professional, and academic needs. Space is extremely limited; therefore, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible to secure your spot.
While this opportunity is open to all Native Hawaiian incoming graduate students, priority will be given to:
alumni of the following target high schools on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island: Hilo, Ka‘ū, Kaimukī, Kea‘au, Leilehua, Nānākuli, Pāhoa, or Wai‘anae
Should you be selected and accept this opportunity, you will be expected to attend and actively participate in the program in its entirety. In addition, you agree to maintain timely communication with Kawehena Project (ex. responding to emails, submitting required documentation, signing paperwork. etc.).
Priority applications will be accepted until June 6th. Please feel free to contact us at kpuhm@hawaii.edu if there are any questions.
