In order to live and thrive in Hawaiʻi, it requires a good job. Good Jobs Hawai'i offers free skills training in Hawai'i’s high-demand sectors including: Healthcare, Technology, Clean energy/Skilled trades, and Creative industries that can lead to a pathway for a better-paying job and accelerate one’s career.
The Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) state offices, complex area offices, and schools offer in-person student internships to provide students with opportunities to learn employability and technical skills related to their career interests.
Eligible students must be:
At least 16 years of age;
Enrolled in a HIDOE high school as a junior or senior or in a Community School for Adults; and
Enrolled in a program of study that aligns with the internship (preferred).

The Apprenticeship Training program provides related instruction to those on O‘ahu who are apprenticing in various construction and mechanical trades. In addition, training opportunities may be offered to journey workers to upgrade their skills and obtain job-related certifications.
Upon completion of an approved apprenticeship program, work process and related instruction hours may be applied to an Associate degree. See Applied Trades (PDF) Program.

Trades Apprenticeship Brochure
A City apprenticeship is a combination of paid on-the-job training and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey-level trade professional. Programs typically take 3 to 5 years to complete, depending on the trade. After successfully finishing the apprenticeship program, graduates become skilled trade workers.
Eligibility
• Rising 10th through 12th graders
• 16 years of age by the internship start date
• U.S. citizenship; some participating laboratories will consider permanent residents
Award duration is a continuous 8 weeks during the summer. SEAP offers a competitive stipend for its interns.

• Returning participant: $4,500
