Mission Statement

The Haverhill Public Schools (HPS) student handbook states that the district provides counseling and referrals to appropriate services, including guidance. The HPS mission statement is to ensure that each student meets or exceeds academic standards, becomes a citizen with integrity, and has the skills and resources to succeed in the global community. 

The Goals of the School Counseling Department:

• Utilizing and understanding the Student Encounter Form

• Continue to update/organize Shared Drives for everyone to access documents and resources to gather what is needed to work effectively

• Guidance Intro Video

• Post-Secondary Visits

• Development and implementation of the HiSET/GED Program

• iDECIDE training and implementation

• MASCA training

• Incorporate mental health/SEL support & training 

• Have meaningful, no-pressure collaboration on curriculum days

• Engaging parents in outreach (ie: college planning/admissions)

• Peer visits

• Analyze data from the district surveys and SBIRT sources

• Continued use of our Youth Wellness Coach (Gina Albano-HHS) and SBIRT screening assistance at Hunking & Nettle with C4 Innovations

• Incorporate student expectations & ideas and make necessary changes according to their needs

• Tabling at lunches
