MULTILINGUAL LEARNER EDUCATION

Vision Statement: The Multilingual Learner Education Department for the Haverhill Public Schools provides educational programming for Multilingual Learners with the goal of developing English language proficiency while mastering content-area knowledge. We place high value on our students, their families and language, and cultural backgrounds. We are committed to supporting Multilingual Learners through ELD and SEI instruction.

Goals:  The Multilingual Learner Education Department for the Haverhill Public Schools has the following department goals:

• Build academic language to ensure student success across content areas

• Increase in overall language proficiency for all ML students

• Support content area teachers in SEI strategy implementation

• Adhere to all federal guidelines and maintaining  accurate records and documents for all ML students
