Welcome to 8th grade science and civics

This year in science we will be using the STEMscopes platform as well as Brain Pop and google classroom.

The topics in 8th grade science are:

1. Earth and the Solar System

2. Earth's Materials

3. The Role of Water on the Earth's Surface and weather and climate

4. Natural Resources and Earth's Systems

5. Chemical Reactions

6. States of Matter

7. Forces and motion

8. Growth and Development of Organisms

9. Inheritance and Variation of Traits

10. Changes in Organisms Over Time

This year is going to be jam packed full of information and content and will definitely will not look the same or feel the same but we will get through this together. The two biggest things that needs to happen this year are listening and respect. We are in an unprecedented time and its so important whether you are in person or at home that you respect me and the others in the room.

Our civics class this year will be all about, you guessed it, CIVICS! We will look back at the start of our United States government and how it formed what we have today. Since its an election year we will also spend one day a week discussing (respectfully) current events having to do with the election.

GRADING BREAKDOWN FOR SCIENCE AND CIVICS:

75% MASTERY (TESTS, QUIZZES, PROJECTS, "LABS", PAPERS)

25% HOMEWORK AND CLASSWORK
