Empowered learners are those who use technology appropriately and to its maximum advantage. They build connections and use technology in order to help themselves learn. They use technology to learn from their mistakes and get better. They are able to clearly communicate their learning goals and use technology to actively achieve those goals.
DIgital Citizens are able to properly manage their digital identities and personal data while being aware of the permanence of their digital footprint and data collecting technologies. Digital citizens must demonstrate an understanding of social etiquette and how to interact safely online. They must also have an understanding and respect of for the rules and laws that come with using and sharing intellectual property.
Knowledge Constructors are able to come up with plans and effective research strategies in order to locate information for their own use. They must also be able to evaluate the reliability of said info. Knowledge Constructors are also able to build knowledge through learning of real world problems and making their own ideas or theories where they must pursue the answers to their own questions. They must be able to organize and look after then information they gathered in order to build collections of information in which they might make important connections or make an important conclusion.
Innovative Designers must know and be able to execute a design process for making ideas, testing those ideas, and making those ideas come to life into artifacts or as a solution to a real problem. They must be able to plan and use digital tools in order to aid in executing the design process and take into account design constraints and calculated risks. They are able to create and improve on prototypes as part of a repetitive design process. And finally, they are able to display perseverance and tolerance for ambiguity while working with open-ended problems. They are comfortable with the unpredictable and are able to persevere while showing the capacity to work with open-ended problems.
Computation Thinkers are able to clearly define a problem and think about how it may be answered.and using technology-assisted methods in order to explore and find solutions. They are able to collect data or organize them into relevant data sets, use digital tools to examine them, and show the data in various ways in order to assist in problem-solving and decision-making. Computational Thinkers are able to break problems down and take out important information in order to create models that clearly convey complex systems. They are able to understand what automation is and create a set of steps in order to test automated solutions.
Creative communicators are able to expertly decide which digital platforms or tools they need in order to reach their desired objective. They are able to create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix other work into new creations. They are able to communicate complex ideas clearly through digital objects such as visualizations, models, simulations. They are able to create content and adjust that content for their intended audiences.
Global Collaborators are able to use technology in order to connect with others for various backgrounds in order to learn. They use digital tools in order to collaborate with different people ranging from colleagues to community members in order to examine issues and problems together in order to gain multiple viewpoints. They are able to contribute and work well in a team and fill multiple roles in order to work together towards a common goal. They are able to explore real world problems and use collaborative techniques in order to work towards solutions.
