Using my computer, Adafruit, and a Circuit Playground Express board, I embarked on a journey of creating various mini projects, utilizing the time and resources available to me. Throughout this process, I gained valuable insights into the functionality of Circuit Playground Express boards and deepened my understanding of how to program them effectively. Experimenting with different projects allowed me to troubleshoot issues, refine my coding skills, and develop a greater appreciation for the versatility of these boards. This experience was both educational and rewarding, reinforcing my passion for programming and hands-on learning.
The class follows seven standards: Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project aligns with the Empowered Learner standard, as I had to take the initiative to research, watch instructional videos, and familiarize myself with coding techniques and necessary programs. By actively seeking out resources and applying what I learned, I was able to build confidence in my technical abilities and problem-solving skills. This self-guided approach encouraged independence and helped me appreciate the importance of continuous learning in technology.
One of the biggest challenges I faced during the project was experiencing a lack of ideas on multiple occasions. To overcome this obstacle, I turned to www.MrRenner.com, where I explored student projects and found inspiration for new concepts. Seeing the creative work of others sparked fresh ideas and helped me develop new projects that I may not have thought of otherwise. If given the opportunity to redo this project, I would allocate more time to the process, allowing myself the flexibility to fully explore last-minute ideas and further refine my work.
At Hastings High School, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program provides students with diverse opportunities in fields such as Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project is closely linked to the Computer Programming CTE program, as it involved writing code and developing functional projects through programming. Additionally, the experience connected to software programming careers by helping me build essential technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and creativity—skills that are valuable in software development and other technology-driven professions.
