Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working with Emma in a group of 2.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need Cardboard, scissors, tape, and hot glue.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A miniature cardboard farm.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It won't look like anyone else's project, and it will look like a mini farm.
We drew or plan and started working.
We worked more on the first barn and then started the house.
Day 3
We finished the house then added the ground and worked on a silo.
I took It home and painted it and also finished the silo.
My cardboard project (video day 5):
Using carboard I created a miniature farm because my partner and I thought it would be a cool idea. Also, because we thought it would be a little challenging and it was. I thought the idea of a farm would be cute and fun and it was.
During this process, I learned how to make things out of cardboard more efficiently, with tools like carboard scissors. We learned how to cut the right pieces out to make sure they match and fit properly. We also learned how to make things without wasting, we used as much as we could.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative designer because we were able to fix the problems we had and also were able to come up with a plan. For example, when a piece was too big or too small, we figured out to use it for its intended use or for something else.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that some of the walls and roofs on the buildings were not the right size or place. I was able to do it by adjusting size and adding other pieces to fit in the place they needed to fill. We used glue to add pieces to fix it and used scissors to fix the size.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change is the roof on the silo. The reason why I would change it is because I don't think it looks quite right. I would also change the fact that I could have used better colors.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to this because it involved making a project with a good plan and ideas.
My project connects to careers in Building design because we built a model of a farm design. I believe it connects to this because if you're designing something then you have to have a plan and/or model of what you're making. Also coordinates with other disciplines to align design requirements, identify equipment needs, inform operating procedures, and share technical data.
