Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need a Micro-Bit and the programming software.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create a character named Harold that shows different emotions when you do different actions with him.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will have a few unique qualities like the character having a name, and that he is fully interactive.

Day 1: Made my list of 25, researched Micro-bits, started programming my first project
Day 2: Took a video of my first project and started my second project
Day three: Finished my second project and recorded it
Day four: Started a new project
Day 5: Recorded my third project and started my fourth
Day 6: Did a Teleporting Duck with Petra
Day 7: Created a disappearing man
Day 8: Finished Harold up, recorded the last video
Using a Micro-Bit and MakeCode Editor, I created a character named Harold that shows different emotions when you do different activities with him. Harold can help young children understand emotions. He can also help young children understand how to express emotion. Another thing Harold may teach almost anyone that people don't like to be shaken.
During this process, I learned that coding doesn't always go as planned. I also learned that some code types are very sensitive. Another thing I learned is that some codes do not work with the Micro-Bit I had.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I had to use different types of coding to figure out how I would have Harold show his Emotions.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that Harold kept showing a scared emotion. I realized later I had selected for him to show it when his logo was up. I was able to do it by changing Logo Up to Tilt Left.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I programmed Harold's emotions. The reason why I would change it is because some of the emotions don't make sense with the activity.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in programming Human-like AIs because of how Harold shows his Emotions.
