On day 1 we starting to think of what to do, due to our liking to bowling we want to make a bowling lane.
On day 2 I started to make the bowling pins and bowling balls in tinkercad
On day 3 I finished the bowling ball and pins and started to set everything up
Day 4 we finished the cardboard lane.
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be in a team
What materials will you need for your project?
A 3d printer and cardboard
What is your plan to create in this project?
Use cardboard to make a bowling lane and the 3d printer to make the pins and bowling ball
What unique qualities will your project have?
No one has made something like this in class yet
Using cardboard, hot glue, ruler, and a 3d printer, I created a model of a bowling lane, because for this project I wanted to do something hands on, but I also wanted to use past creations to help me. I also wanted to create a game I could play with my friends with. That is why I chose to do a combined project.
During this process, I learned how to make a bowling lane. Another thing I learned was how to make a ball return. Lastly I learned how to get accurate measurements.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because in this project I used certain skills and had to engineer a design for this project. I also had to look up different examples and models to get an idea for my design. I used different materials to make my project turn out good and functional.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to 3d print in the start. I was able to do it by having the 3d print ready to go when we could 3d print the next day. While I couldn't 3d print, I worked on the cardboard part of my project. This allowed me to get farther ahead while my 3d print was printing.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how big we made the project. The reason why I would change it is because in this project I originally wanted to have the bowling lane be able to stand on your desk. I chose to make it bigger so you could play it with other people. It would have been fine either way, but it would have been easier to transport the project around.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Mechanical design engineer because in this project I 3d printed a bowling ball and some pins. I also made a bowling lane out of cardboard. In this career you have to 3d print and design models like what we did in this project.
