Reflection questions:

• Using two computers, one PC and one Mac mini, I created a comparison video to show how they are different. I focused on the parts inside each computer because I have always been interested in how they work. It was cool to see how the designs were not the same. This project helped me understand computers better.

• During this project, I learned that Mac Minis are much more secure and proprietary than PCs. This means they are harder to open up and fix. Unlike PCs, you can’t easily change or replace parts in a Mac mini. That made it more challenging to work with.

• The seven standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects best with Global Collaborator. This is because we shared our project results on a website for others to see. It allowed us to communicate our work with a wider audience.

• One challenge I faced was opening up the Mac mini. It was very difficult to get inside compared to the PC. I ended up using pliers and had to force it open. Even though it worked, it showed me how hard Macs are to repair.

• If I could do this project again, I would change how I made the comparison video. I don’t really like how it turned out. I think I could make it look more organized and professional. Next time, I would spend more time editing and planning.

• Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education program offers many different classes like Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, and Digital Multimedia. My project connects most to the Digital Multimedia program. This is because I created a video as part of my project. It helped me practice making and sharing digital content.

• My project also connects to careers like mechanical design engineering. People in this job often take apart what they build to make sure it works correctly. They test and improve their designs by studying the parts. This is similar to what I did in my project.
