Reflection Questions:
I used iMovie to make a video about myself that included pictures and audio because I thought it would be a fun and creative way to show people what I like. I wanted the video to really represent me and give others a better idea of my interests. It was exciting to put everything together and see how the pictures and music made the video come to life.
While working on this project, I learned a lot about iMovie and how it works. One of the coolest things I discovered was that you can edit and change the transitions between clips. This made my video look smoother and more professional. I also learned how important it is to pay attention to details like timing and how the pictures match the audio.
In class, we have seven standards: Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects to the Global Collaborator standard because we are publishing these videos on a website that anyone in the world can see. This means we are sharing our ideas and creativity with a global audience.
One challenge I faced during this project was finding good pictures to use. At first, it was hard because I didn’t want to use pictures that were copyrighted. I solved this problem by using a copyright-free website to find high-quality images that were safe to use. This taught me how important it is to respect copyright rules when creating digital projects.
If I could do this project again, I would change my voice in the voice-over. I don’t really like how it sounds right now—it sounds kind of weird to me and doesn’t match the tone I wanted for the video. Next time, I would try to make my voice sound clearer and more confident so the video feels more polished.
Hastings High School has a Career and Technical Education Program with classes like Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia program because I used technology to create and edit a video. This project gave me a small taste of what it’s like to work in digital media.
My project also connects to careers in filmmaking because we basically made short films about ourselves. It gave me an idea of what it’s like to plan, edit, and produce a video. I learned that making videos takes time and effort, but it’s also really rewarding when you see the final product.
