Daily Log

Day 1. I created my websites new page and made my List of 10, and Planning Questions.

Day 2. I created my scene plan Google Doc and started creating the first scene on the Merge Cube.

Day 3. I finished the first side of the Merge Cube. I created the second side on my Merge Cube and started on the third side.

Day 4. I finished creating the third side of my Merge Cube and started on the fourth side.

Day 5. I finished most of my Merge Cube. All that's left now is a few details and rotating it.

Day 6. I finished the finer details on my merge cube. I put my Merge Cube design on a Merge Cube. I created my video.

Day 7. I uploaded my video and put it on my website. I then took pictures of each side of my Merge Cube and put them on my website.

Day 8. I worked on my reflection.

Day 9. I reviewed my reflection to make sure it was up to standard.

Reflection

Using CoSpaces and a Merge Cube, I created a Merge Cube representation of a simple children's story that I wrote. I created this because I thought a children's story would be the thing I could come up with in just one day. I chose the specific idea for the children's story I would use based on Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki type stories that I grew up with.

During this process, I learned how to use CoSpaces to create an AR world. I also learned how to use a Merge Cube through a camera. Another thing I learned in this project was how to animate characters in CoSpaces.

My project ties to Empowered Learner because I was able to set a goal for how much I wanted to get done on my project each day such as how many sides I wanted to get done and how far on each side I wanted to get done. My project also ties to Knowledge Constructor because I already knew how to code using block code from the micro:bit project but in this project I really learned how those commands would connect to the things I am animating. My project ties to Innovative Designer as well because I was able to come up with an original story and create it on a Merge Cube using CoSpaces.

A challenge I overcame in this project was IMovie not allowing me to upload my video to my Google Drive. I needed to overcome this challenge because I need the video showing off my project otherwise the viewer of my project would only have a vague idea of the story I made. I overcame this challenge by relogging into Google Drive.

Given a chance to do this project again I would change my base story and would have made it more complex. There was not enough time at the end of my project to completely recreate it but there was a lot of extra time. My main story was pretty basic and I feel as though I should have been a bit more ambitious.

My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hasting High School. It connects to it in that I was able to come up with a story idea and create a virtual representation of that. My project connects to careers in Digital and Immersive Training Intern, and Augmented and Virtual Reality Engineer.
