I will be working by myself for this project.
For this project, I will need access to a sewing machine and fabric.
I plan to create a few quilt squares for this project using a sewing machine and finish the quilt after this project is done at home.
The unique qualities my project will have is it'll be my own design used to make the quilt I make.
Day 1. I thought about what I was going to create and filled out my List of 10 Good Ideas and Planning Questions.
Day 2. I picked out fabrics for my project and figured out proportions.
Day 3. I cut out a fabric square's pieces and started sewing.
Day 4. The sewing machine began to have issues so I switched over to doing a redo of my 3D Design project. I decided to try to make a key hanger that looks like plants for my project. I began work on the key hanger, taking extra care to make sure all of the proportions were the sizes I wanted them to be. Tomorrow I will need to add more details to my key hanger such as holes for nails as to not split the plastic when it is nailed to the wall, I may also try to make the edge of the hanger base straighter. I may try to make one of my other 3D Design ideas more intricate and use an idea that I have more ideas on how I can add more details to.
Day 5. I finished up work on my key holder but there is always room for improvement on it. I began work on my lotus incense burner, there is definitely room for a lot of improvement on that one but I have a base that I am happy enough with. Tomorrow I plan to make the incense burner look even more like a lotus flower by finding a way to make the flower petals connect and possibly change the bottom to something that looks more like a lily pad, I might also add varying heights to the petals.
Day 6. I created my video on the plant key hanger. I also created my Reflection.
Using TinkerCAD, I created a plant key hanger. I created a key hanger because my family has very many sets of keys and not a fixed place to put them. I decided to make the key hooks look like plants because my whole family really likes plants and they look nice.
During this process, I learned how to zoom in while using TinkerCAD's scribble tool. I also learned how to focus the camera back to its original state in TinkerCAD. Another thing I learned during this process was how to make straight edges using TinkerCAD's scribble tool.
My project ties to Empowered Learner because every day I made a goal on how much I wanted to get done with my 3D design and reflect on whether or not I was able to meet my goal. My project also ties to Innovative Designer because I made something new without pre-existing blueprints on exactly what I was going to make. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor as well because I did the 3D Design project before and had prior knowledge of what I would be doing for this project because of that but in this project I was still able to learn new things, such as how to focus TinkerCAD's camera back to its original state.
A challenge I overcame in this project was being unable to make straight edges in TinkerCAD. I needed to overcome this challenge so my design wouldn't look sloppy. I overcame this challenge by zooming in and cutting across the design, which made the resulting lines fairly straight.
Given a chance to do this project again, I would change the amount of detail I put in the designs. I would change that because I couldn't shake the feeling that the design the design was missing something. I didn't change it while I was working however because I couldn't think of anything else to add but still felt as though adding something else was necessary.
My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE at Hastings High School. It connects to it in that I created something new without blueprints or some form of guide to show me exactly what to do. My project connects to careers in 3D Visualizer, 3D Modeling and Rendering Designer, and 3D Printing Technician.
