What materials will you need for your project?
A Micro:Bit and an iPad.
What is your plan to create in this project?
Anything I can.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It'll be made by me.
I made my name.
I made a sun.
I made an owl and a mouse and showed the owl hunting the mouse. (Note: no mice were harmed in the making of this code.)
I made dice that shows a number when you shake it, pauses, then shows another number.
I made a rock, paper, scissors code.
I wasn't here.
I coded a compass.
I wasn't here.
Using a Micro:Bit, I created several different codes. I did the codes because they were the codes I wanted to do. They seemed interesting and semi-fun.
During this process, I learned how to code a Micro:Bit. I learned how to code using the Make Code program. I learned how to use different things like Logic and Variables.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. It ties to Knowledge Constructor because I actively sought out tutorials and instructions on how to do things.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the code to properly work. I was able to overcome it by checking the code. I was also able to overcome it by changing the code.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change my process for making the code. The reason why I would change it is because it took a while to organize and actually make what I wanted to. My process was getting the parts of code I needed, then putting them together in the order I wanted.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It ties to this because I was programming the Micro:Bit.
My project connects to careers in coding and programming. It ties to careers in coding because I coded the Micro:Bit. It ties to careers in programming because I programmed the Micro:Bit.
