Using a computer, sphero, an ipad, and a sphero bot I created coding for my bot because I am pretty new to coding and I wanted to make it do cool things. I made the bot drive in a triangle then come back to me, which seems like a small thing but I thought it was really cool. I wanted it to come back to me so I wouldn't lose it if I drove it too far.
During this process, I learned how to turn on a bot, and how to connect it to my iPad. I learned it by turning on my robot then choosing one till it was my robot. I also learned how to make the bot turn a different color, I learned this when I started coding and saw a color tab and found the color picker.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I used different steps to complete my goal. Another thing a knowledge constructor does is they use an "I can attitude" to solve problems which I did even though I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to make it work.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making the robot come back to me. I was able to do it by testing different ways. I did a test where I had it at angle that face towards me, and it worked.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how far away it went from me. The reason why I would change it is because It would've been more of a challenge to have it go farther away from me to come back. If I had it go farther from me and then made it come I think I would've been more impressed with myself.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to this because I programed my robot. Programming classes are offered at the high school.
My project connects to careers in Robotics Engineering because I programmed a robot to do what I want it do which is one of the things robot engineers do. This job can be a lot of different things but if I am able to code this robot I could probably program another one. Engineering can be a difficult task but if I work hard enough I could do it.
