For my project I decided to create a Popsicle Pencil holder.
These are pictures below is my pencil holder made from Popsicle sticks, hot glue, and a pencil holder.
To the right is the video of my project
By using Popsicle sticks, hot glue, and Popsicle sticks I created a pencil holder. This pencil holder can get put into your locker from the magnet on the back. It could also be used as skittle holder by putting skittles into it. The reason I wanted to create this is because I needed to keep track of my pencils and not to lose them so at the end of the hour I go and put my pencils into this saving me pencils and money.
During this process I learned how to create Popsicle stick walls that can fit into the other Popsicle sticks. I also learned how to cut the Popsicle sticks so they'll end up straight. One last thing I learned was how to tape Popsicle sticks so you can curve them onto a base although this wasn't created in my project, it was still useful knowledge.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative Designer. My project ties into innovative designer because I designed an object to help you with daily problems. In this situation it was losing pencils.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting my Popsicle sticks to fit together. I was able to overcome this by measuring the sticks to fit together before gluing them. I also overcame it from restarting my project and figuring out that my sticks need to fit together.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change my entire design. I would change the depth of the holder because currently, it's too deep. This is because my pencils nearly disappear into the container then it takes an unnecessary amount of time to get them out. So by doing this it would lessen my wasted time in between classes.

My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School because I solved a problem that most people struggle with. My project connects to careers in an engineering designer for motorcycles.
