25 Things To Do:
For my project I decided to do a drink coaster. Below are pictures of my drink coaster.
The video to the right is the ending of my 3D print. It came out smaller then expected.
Using tinker cad I created a 3D print drink coaster. The reason I made a drink coaster is because I wanted to experiment with Tinker cad. I also wanted to try to make something more simple for my first time with 3D print.
During this project I learned how to make a scribble on the work plane. I also learned how to size up my 3D print with the ruler and the settings. Another thing I learned was how to make a hole into my project.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to an Innovative Designer. The reason it ties to an Innovative Designer is because I brainstormed an idea in which I would print. I came up with a drink coaster then put it into a digital program called, Tinker cad. This shows an Innovative Designer because I solved the problem of having circle stains on your table by adding a drink coaster to put your drink onto stop the circle stains.
A challenge I overcame on this project was how to size up the projects length. It was difficult because at first I wasn't sure where to go to change the length but with some help I eventually found it. Another problem I ran into was learning how to make holes in your project, even though my model may not show how I made the hole, I still learned it from the tutorial and I could use it for future uses.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the bottom of my 3D print. I think I should have added a bottom plate that could come off and get wiped off. Without the bottom I think the water or condensation from the glass will drip down and still get on your table. Although you wont have circle stains on your table. Another thing that I would do is make my 3D print bigger, this is because it came out smaller then expected.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design. This is because I wanted to solve the problem of drink stains and in doing so I created a drink coaster. If I had the chance I would add the bottom to it therefore improving my project making it part of the Engineering Design.
