I am working together with Quin and we are doing the bridge challenge. Some materials we will need will be little wood pieces, and the wood cutter.
Using wood sticks and a wood cutter, I created a bridge that will be able to hold 210 pennies because it was a challenge to see how many pennies it will hold.
During this process, I learned that you need 2 layers of bridge otherwise it will snap at less than 250 pennies and 5 pounds of bolts nuts and spacers.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge constructor because I figured out in the end that you need multiple layers of bridge to hold more than 250 pennies and a 5 pound bag of nuts bolts, and spacers.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the fact that you need more than one layer of bridge material to hold more than 250 pennies and a 5 pound bag. I was able to do it by adding a second layer of bridge material.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the beefiness of the bridge. The reason why I would change it is because it was not able to hold the amount of pennies I would like it to hold.
