myself
What materials will you need for your project?
micro bit my computer and ipad
What is your plan to create in this project?
Using the pixel lights I want to create animations with words and moving parts
What unique qualities will your project have?
All ideas are from myself not from an outside source.
I thought of my 10 good ideas and finished it.
I got the micro;bit and watched some videos about it.
I started my first project with making a "beating heart". Then a smilely face then a frown face.
I started a long animation of words.
I added some dots that formed something with words in it for my final project.
<------ This is my movie for a grade.
Using a micro:bit, I created an animation because I wanted to expand my types of coding and to make an animation that looks cool. I thought this would be a fun and creative way to challenge myself while working on a hands-on coding project.
During this process, I learned how to code a micro:bit and make animations with it. I discovered how to plan out frames for an animation, test them on the micro:bit, and fix mistakes until it moved the way I wanted.
The seven standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to the Digital Citizen standard because I used the internet and websites safely to make an animation through a micro:bit.
A challenge I overcame during this project was thinking of ideas for what animation to make. I was able to overcome this challenge by staying persistent and not goofing off even when I felt bored or stuck. This helped me stay focused long enough to finish my project successfully.
Given a chance to do this project again, I would change the way I coded. The reason why I would change it is because I used the block coding method instead of trying to use JavaScript. Using JavaScript would have been more challenging, but it also would have been a great learning opportunity to improve my coding skills.
The Hastings High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program offers classes such as Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the CTE program because it was focused on computer programming, which played a huge role in my work.
My project also connects to careers like Junior Software Engineer, Web Developer, and Programmer Analyst because all of those careers involve coding. Since my project was based on coding and problem-solving, it gave me a small introduction to the kinds of skills people use in those careers every day.
