Final product
This is the final product with the Makey Makey, we played a game called Shell Shockers. there were only two buttons, a space bar, a forward button, and a mouse for the controls.
Reflection
Reflection
Using the Makey Makey, I created a very small controller made of play dough connected to the computer. When you touch the play dough it send signals to the computer. We picked the Makey Makey because we thought it would be fun and make a great second project.
During this process, I learned how electricity flows in a circle. I learned this when I tried to press one of the buttons without toughing the ground wire, then it wouldn't work. In order for it to work I would have to hold the ground wire, and then when I push one one the buttons it should register and send the signal to the computer to command the car to move.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered learner, digital citizen and global collaborator. I am a empowered learner because I learned in a fun way on how electricity works. I am a digital citizen because I had to use a circuit board as well as a computer. I'm a global collaborator because I posted the project on my website that any one in the word could see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was cable management. Cable management was terrible because I wasn't worried about it a t the time but I wish I would have dealt with the problem when I did the project. Another big problem I had was getting some decent play dough, all the play dough felt pretty old and crumbly but I was able to fine the best play dough in the box, It was just soft enough to mold so I went with it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the cable management. The reason why I would change it is because I think it was horrible with wires everywhere getting tangled and just getting in the way. One way I could fix this problem is use some play dough to hold down some bunched up wires in one spot.
