Fraternity & Sorority Life

Hastings College is a place to build memories and friendships for a lifetime. Being a part of a fraternity or sorority is a great way to enhance that experience while being involved both on-campus and in the greater community. Hastings' fraternal community leads dozens of service projects and sets the bar for academic achievement and campus leadership. The friendships and experiences gained as part of joining a fraternity of sorority will last a lifetime!

The Office of Student Activities is here to help you and your members navigate the fraternal world as best as we can! Below we’ve provided links to everything you’ll need from us to stay updated, informed, and active in our fraternal community! Take the time to learn about what our organizations have to offer you and your collegiate experience by exploring the information below.

Fraternities & Sororities

Our fraternity and sorority life community at Hastings College is currently made up of 6 organizations.

Fraternities & Sororities: Greek-letter professional and social student organizations, including both general and culturally based organizations, create smaller communities within the larger College environment for the purposes of facilitating growth in the areas of scholarship, personal and leadership development, campus involvement, and community service.

How to Join Fraternity & Sorority Life

Fraternities and sororities select their members through a recruitment process. This process begins with the annual Involvement Fair. During this time, groups are allowed to hold various mixers and informational sessions so that students can learn about which group would be the best fit.

Recruitment is the process in which interested students can learn more about our fraternal organizations and be asked to join. Students who wish to join a social sorority or fraternity shall participate in Recruitment Week(s). Students who wish to join a professional or service fraternity shall attend individual chapter events. All recruitment events must be approved by the Student Activities Coordinator. No recruitment events or the extending of bids occur during summer terms; however, our chapters participate in year-round recruitment and are encouraged to continue promoting their fraternal experiences to promote fraternity and sorority life to potential new members.

In order to be eligible to join one of the social fraternities or sororities on campus, you must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on all high school course work or a GPA of 2.0 on all undergraduate course work for returning Hastings College students and transfer students. In order to be eligible to join Sigma Alpha Iota (music fraternity; women only), you must have a minimum GPA of 2.9 on all undergraduate course work for returning Hastings College students and transfer students.

Hastings College and the Inter-Greek Council policies mandate that the recruitment process be alcohol-free.
