We will give update on the status of Yearbook as soon as possible.
Cell Phone/Smart Watch Usage during instructional time
We've had an uptick of students using cell phones/smart watches to contact parents during instructional time. Please remind students that they are to ask the nearest adult/classroom teacher, go to the nurse's office, or talk with the front office should they need to contact parents. We are supportive of that communication to home but through approved channels. Disruption of instructional time will be handled through disciplinary protocols per Hartselle City Schools. Thank you for speaking with your student about this matter.
End of the Year Report Cards- Will be sent home on Academic Awards Day- May 21
If you do not receive report card, please come to HIS office and pick up during summer house Monday-Thursday 8am-3pm:
End of Year Reminders
We are winding down to the final weeks of the school year. It is easy for students to get caught up and make poor choices. Please note that students that receive an office referral that yields In School Intervention, Out of School Suspension, or Alternative School placement will not be allowed to participate in the end of the year activities for that week. Help us encourage TigerWay choices everyday!
5th Grade GAGA Ball- 8:30-11am
6th Grade GAGA Ball- 11:30-2pm
Parents, Please make sure you come through the West gate by traffic light and park in the parking lots closer to the school building(north side). We can also do overflow parking on tennis courts. Please DO NOT PARK in outdoor classroom area. Crestline Elementary will have their field day at the stadium and will use the south gates and park on the south side of parking lot. Enter in side of gym and check in at table.
Help us keep the good sportsmanship alive at the tourney. This is a fundraising event for our PE classes.
With the change in times, should a parent want to come, we ask it be between 9:30-10:30am and must check in at table on soccer field side of park. Students will have to walk back to school and get ready for gaga ball tourney so there won't be much time.

Be sure to go to MySchoolBucks to help cover your child's Fun Day pass.
Fun Day will now be held on Thurs, May 16th due to chances of rain on Friday. There will be concessions & Kona Ice available for purchase. This is a Student-only event. A professional photographer will capture the day, and we will share them with parents the parents that gave permission (FOR FREE) once rendered.
Help your child finish the year strong with good attendance. Although testing and end-of-the-year activities are upon us, attendance still matters. Students review content and finalize mastery of standards until the final week of school. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
If your child has lost a jacket/coat, please encourage them to stop by lost and found table and see if they can find it. Names in jackets would be the preventive measure from this accumulation. Thank you in advance.
Any clothing remaining at end of the school year will be donated to local charities.
Parent Guides
Parents, we would like to ask you to be involved with your child's screen time and apps. Healthy boundaries are a good thing. They need the accountability during this stage of their lives to help them develop habits that will set them up for success.
Parents, please remember these reminders about Absences and Check-outs:
Check-outs in front office need to be made before 2:40pm due to buses.
Transportation changes are due Ms Kelly Smith by 2:00pm, so we can have time to let students know unless an emergency arises.
Excuses/Dr. Note's are due 3 days upon returning to school.
Make-up Work and Missed Assignments:
The HIS Parent/Student Handbook states the following:
Students who are absent are required to make up work missed in each class. It is the student's responsibility to obtain all make-up work from his/her teachers immediately upon return to school. Only in extreme cases of prolonged absences will more than one week be allowed for work to be made up.
In an effort to support students and help with the transition to a new grade level, we have been more lenient with our make-up work guidelines during 1st nineweeks. As we begin the second nine weeks of school, please be aware that we are going to stick more closely to our stated policy. However, teachers will still have the discretion to work with students and parents when there are prolonged absences or extenuating circumstances.
Please help your student know that they need to talk to their teachers and write in their planners the work that needs to be completed. They should also check their Google Classroom for assignments that were posted while they were absent.
We appreciate your support as we work with students to build their sense of responsibility and ownership of their learning.
PowerSchool
Please be sure to stay up to date with your child's progress through PowerSchool app.
Carline Parents/Guardians: Thank you for your help with our adjusted A-K car format. We were asked by Central office and the city to help open up the traffic on Sparkman and at the west traffic light. Commendations to Officer Al for helping us make this transition. Should you still have questions, feel free to reach out to Officer Al, Mr Hembree or myself. No process is perfect; however, we do strive to be at our best everyday and serve our students and families with excellence!
As always, safety is our priority and if you can help us with cordiality with the merging process, that will expedite the process. Again, as adults we want to model #TheTigerWay for our students and children while on campus.
Thank you for your help with this!
