What we've been up to:

This week in maths we have been looking at sorting different 2D and 3D shapes. We thought about the properties including curved and flat faces.

In outdoor learning this week we went outside to create trails in the snow inspired by the story of The Snail and the Whale.

In PE, we have been playing lots of different games including domes and dishes.

This week we visited the library, it was lovely to see the children passionate about reading.

We have been looking at the story of the Snail and the Whale. We retold the stories using lots of adjectives.

In outdoor learning this week we went to explore shapes in nature, building on from maths and linking with our inquiry.

In maths we have started the topic of money, we have been sorting coins by the their colour, size and value.

 We have been looking at animal migrations this term. We have looked at a gray whales migration from the Arctic to the warm waters of Mexico.

In art, we created an animal texture print using ink. 

In DT, we practiced different joining techniques.

In PE, we have been looking at jumping.

In music, we have been looking at a piece of music called The Carnival of the Animals. We have been thinking about low pitch and high pitch using different instruments to show this. We have been thinking about how each part of the music is different to reflect a different animal.

As this week was National story telling week the children attended an online lesson with author Joseph Coelho where they came up with their own magical worlds. It was lovely to see the children's imagination and creativity. 

In Maths, we have started to explore equal groups as part of our multiplication topic. The children created groups of counters to help with this. 

In PE, we have been practicing our skipping. 

This term was break the rules day. 

This term we celebrated music week. We had a musical theatre workshop with Miss Hannah which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Also during music week, we dressed up as different musicians and performed a song to the whole school.
