During term 2 we will be inquiring into the following central idea:

For remembrance day we made clay poppies.
This week in our inquiry we have been exploring different emotions and using our facial expressions to express how we feel. We looked at a story called I walk with Vanessa which is a wordless picture book.
This week the children went to Hartley Library. It was lovely to share stories, explore new books and encourage the children to read. The children had a wonderful time.
This week we painted our clay poppies that we made.
The children dressed up to raise money for Children in need.
We planted daffodil bulbs. We made sure there was enough soil to cover the bulb and will make sure we water the bulbs.
This term we have been learning to play the ocarina. We have been playing the song Hot Cross Buns.
In Geography we have been exploring the 7 continents and 5 oceans.
In DT, we have been practicing our sewing. We have been doing the running stitch with a needle and thread.
To link with our unit of inquiry we explored communicating using a flag. The children made a flag using outdoor materials and tried to communicate with their friends.
In inquiry this week the children have been thinking how to effectively work as a team. They came up with a game using PE equipment, they had to work as a team and communicate.
We have also been having a look at the story of The Enormous Turnip, linking to team work.

This term the children have been looking at different ways to use technology to record and collect data. They made a tally chart first of all and used this to create a pictogram to show the classes favourite colours.
This term the children dressed up as elves to raise money for the Alzheimer's society.
