Mr. Gregory Hofler, Jalyn Greene and Mariana Montanez-Ramos

CPREP TikTok of the Ages Dance - Dance and theater festival (2023)

"Mr. Gregory Hofler is a third-year teacher who worked at Waterbury Arts Magnet School in Waterbury for two years and Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford for one year. He obtained his Associate's Degree in dance at Naugatuck Valley Community College, where he was trained by a few professors such as Elena Rusnak, Dana Rainey (from Alvin Ailey School), and Megan Boyd. He then obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Dance Education k-12 at Central Connecticut State University where he was trained by Professor Catherine Fellows, Professor Stephen Hanky, Professor Pascal Rekoert, and Professor Erica Nelson. He is the first person to obtain the new dance degree at Central Connecticut State University in the fall of 2019. He was a part of a collegiate dance company at Central Connecticut State University for four years called Dancentral. Mr. Hofler is currently taking his Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership in which he expects to graduate this upcoming fall. Mr. Hofler has created a total of twenty-one pieces in which one piece was recognized at Naugatuck Valley Community College. He will continue to teach students for the years to come."

The first piece that is being presented for the conference is by students Jalyn Greene (10th) & Mariana Montanez-Ramos (10th) in which they will perform a piece called Tiktok of the Ages by the song "OMG" by NewJeans and the piece was created and performed by them for the Dance & Theater Festival that happened at Weaver High School back in the beginning of April. They utilized what was learned in dance class, which were the Elements of Dance, Choreographic Devices, and Choreographic Structures, and applied them in the creation of the piece.

The second piece that is being presented for the conference is by students Jalyn Greene (10th), Mariana Montanez-Ramos (10th), and myself. The piece is called Dreams and the song is by "Always Have But Never Dreamed" by Hydelic. I picked this song because it ties in with the theme of Radical Healing for the conference where the piece itself is very uplifting while also intense, but the main focus is the use of connecting with self and others, but also explore opportunities around us. This piece uses things learned in dance class with the emphasis on relationships on how a dancer connects with one another.
