The field recording sound files were recorded in a harbor while a huge crane ship was moored at a dock. Slight movements of the sea produced strong metal-like sounds at certain parts of the vessel's body structure and the mooring chains.
Someone wondered how far these metallic sounds can be heard underwater and how aquatic life perceives them?

Works contained in this section have been created with Emissioncontrol2.
EmissionControl2 (EC2) is a standalone interactive real-time application for granular synthesis and sound file granulation.
One or more field recording sound files as inputs and grains up to 10 seconds were used to enable granular processing of short audio phrases.
Modulation and LFO control parameters have been partially automated via OSC, MIDI and/or keystroke automation. Certain sequences may have been controlled manually with a Moog Theremini.
Emissioncontrol2 was created by the team of Curtis Roads, Jack Kilgore, and Rodney Duplessis at the Center for Research in Electronic Art Technology (CREATE), University of California, Santa Barbara, USA.

In contrast to classical compositions, all sounds in this section are considered highly experimental.
