November In The Wellness Center
What’s New in Wellness for November
Welcome to the month of November. Hold on to those Cowboy hats because we officially have 7 more weeks of the Fall semester left! It’s no wonder teen stress is usually on the rise in the month of November!
With so many things important to teens disrupted- school, seeing friends, sports and other activities that shape identity- many kids are struggling, even those without a history of depression or anxiety. This month, we’ve rounded up resources to help parents recognize the signs of depression in teenagers and get them effective support or treatment.
Kids who seem to be stuck in a negative mood may need help to bounce back.
ChildMind.org has published a great article that helps parents understand the “Signs of Depression During the Pandemic”- (provided in English and Espanol)
For parents who may already be aware of their son/daughter’s current functioning and have already received a diagnosis from their medical provider.
This article addresses what parents need to know about therapy, medication and finding a good clinician .
“Stress Reduction Beginner Yoga Class”
California School-Based Health Alliance recognizes the struggles that parents have and are presenting a free yoga webinar on November 17th, 11am-12pm
Unity of Community
As for the month of November, Caring 4 Cowboys Wellness Center is kicking off the month with “Unity of Community Wellness Week”. As we enter the month of November, our students, families, staff and community deeply grieve the one-year mark of the Saugus tragedy. Our individual memories of the day’s events will forever be imprinted in our brains. Our hearts feel deep sorrow and emotional pain for the lives we lost and the trauma experienced. On this year’s remembrance, we will focus on the many acts of gratitude, resilience, unification and strength that we have observed first-hand. We share our deepest gratitude to all of you who played an intricate role in supporting the emotional healing and mental health of lives affected. We truly thank you for uniting with us and supporting us along the road to healing.
