This marks the 25th time that the Texas Medical Association Young Physician Section will award it's rural science scholarship. This 1,000 dollar award is given to a rural Texas high school senior, who excels in science and plans to continue their education in the field of medicine. All outstanding rural high school seniors interested in applying can complete the application at the link below. All applications must be submitted online by Friday, February 1, 2021.
Each year, AFA holds a Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship Essay Contest which asks high school seniors to describe how Alzheimer’s disease changed or impacted their lives. Whether they’ve had a loved one with the disease, volunteered or worked as a caretaker or are just passionate about the cause, the next generation of leaders in the fight against Alzheimer’s have a story to tell. We want to hear yours!
All current high school seniors who will be attending an accredited college/university within one year of the award date are welcome to enter the competition. Essays must be a maximum of 1,500 words.
The grand prize is a $5,000 college scholarship. Prizes will also be awarded for first runner-up ($2,500 scholarship), second runner-up ($1,500 scholarship), third runner-up ($1,000 scholarship), fourth runner-up ($750 scholarship) and honorable mention ($500 scholarship). Since the program’s inception, nearly $250,000 in college scholarships have been awarded.

It is the desire of Ramsey Realty Group to help students wanting to pursue higher education. We are seeking to help those who typically do not otherwise qualify for many grants or academic scholarships, if any. We are looking to serve those that have a harder time obtaining scholarships but have the passion and desire to succeed. High school GPA is only one factor considered.
The owners of Ramsey Realty Group, Jeff Ramsey and Mindy Scott, will serve on the scholarship committee and appoint three additional real estate agents from their firm to serve on the selection committee. The 5 members will review the applications and determine the candidates selected for distribution of scholarship funds.
Scholarships will be awarded totaling $5,000 beginning for distribution in the fall of 2019.

The Dallas Scottish Rite Library and Museum is active in providing support for community, educational and charitable endeavors. Included in these endeavors is an annual merit-based college scholarship program, which also takes into account the personal needs for graduating high school seniors. These scholarships will be awarded without regard to gender, race, color, creed, national origin or religion.
The scholarship competition is open to graduating high school seniors of the current school year from all schools in the 40 counties of Texas, which are part of the Dallas Scottish Rite membership area. It IS NOT necessary for the applicant or their family to have ties to a Masonic organization.
The scholarship value is $1,000.00.

The student must plan to pursue an associate’s or bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university located in the State of Texas.

Recipients may major in any subject.

Based on the availability of funding, as determined by the Foundation and Committee annually, the scholarship may be renewable for up to three years, if the recipient meets the following criteria:

The recipient maintains a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in his or her academic program.

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate exemplary achievement and potential in art. Applicants should be available for a personal interview and have the ability to present or display 1-5 projects which they consider to be their most significant achievements, if requested.

This scholarship will be awarded to an East Texas individual, regardless of age, pursuing full time study for vocational/technical certificates and/or associate degrees in medically-related fields such as: radiology, sonography, surgical technology, physical therapy assistant, occupational therapy assistant, respiratory care, EMT, wellness, etc.
Because this scholarship is intended to aid persons who wish to receive medically-related vocational training and get into the workforce as quickly as possible, students seeking bachelor’s degrees are not eligible. Nursing students should apply for a different ETCF scholarship.

The E. H. Caldwell Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by the family of Dr. Elbert H. Caldwell, a beloved and respected surgeon whose name became synonymous with East Texas medicine. Throughout his 46-year career in East Texas, Dr. Caldwell earned the respect and love of both his patients and medical colleagues. Motivated by principles of fairness and honesty, as well as high ethical standards, Dr. Caldwell helped found and cultivate the sophisticated level of medicine that characterizes East Texas medicine today.
Scholarships from the E. H. Caldwell Scholarship Fund are awarded to East Texas residents wishing to pursue careers in medically related fields, particularly nursing.

The East Texas Geological Society Scholarship is awarded to a student who is at least a sophomore at the time of application and who has declared his or her major to be geology. The applicant may be an undergraduate or graduate geology student.

Recipient must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in his or her undergraduate program, and, if applicable, in his or her graduate program.

The Gladys and Thomas “T.B.” Stewart Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 through the generosity of Gladys and T.B. Stewart. The Stewarts, life-long residents of Tyler, valued their faith and the role of education in their lives and served as positive role models to young people. Mrs. Stewart was an educator with Tyler ISD for 40 years. It was the Stewarts’ desire to make a lasting contribution to their community by rewarding students who share their values of faith, education, and high moral character.
The purpose of the Gladys and Thomas “T.B.” Stewart Scholarship is to provide educational scholarships for graduates from Smith County area high schools.

Helen Elbert’s musical ability was evident as a child. Beginning at the age of 10, she was the regular pianist for her church. She went on to earn a degree in music with a concentration in piano and had a 52-year career as an outstanding piano teacher, church musician, and chamber music performer. She was nominated in 2006 as Teacher of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association. Throughout her almost 99 years of life, Helen Elbert never lost her zest for living and learning.
This scholarship was established by the East Texas Music Teachers Association with gifts from Mrs. Elbert’s friends and family. It will be awarded to an East Texas graduating senior who plans to major in music with a preference for piano majors.

The Hugh P. Brown Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. Brown’s family to honor his adventurous spirit. He once drove a man to Galveston in a Model T. He also crashed a motorcycle in front of a beautiful young lady’s home. That young lady rescued him and became his wife! In spite of a 3rd grade education, Hugh Brown read the Houston Chronicle every day and had a photographic memory. He had a long and successful career as an auto mechanic in Trinity County, Texas. This scholarship will support students studying automotive technology.

Applicant may be a current student of any age or a graduating senior from any high school in East Texas with a preference for graduates of Groveton ISD followed by a preference for graduates of other schools in Trinity County.

Jackson Huse loved everyone and never met a stranger. His gentle smile melted the hearts of those around him. He displayed strength, perseverance, and courage which taught others to look at each day as a blessing. Jackson passed away at age 6 after a brave battle with a brain tumor. Master WoodCraft Cabinetry, LLC is committed to excellent craftsmanship to create a workplace environment that truly cares for its employees, customers, and community in Jefferson and Marshall, Texas. This scholarship honors Kenneth (Kenny) Ponder who served as Executive Vice President of his family’s kitchen cabinet business until his untimely passing.
Mr. Ponder earned a degree in Manufacturing Technology from North Carolina State University. This scholarship will support students pursing a career in wood technology or a related field.

This contest is open to 2021 graduating seniors who are citizens of the United States and residents of Texas. Applications must be submitted by the posted deadline to the Elks Lodge. Applicants must include an official transcript showing all courses 9-12. Scholarships amounts are 1st = $2,500.00, 2nd = $1,500.00, 3rd = $1,000.00 for the top 3 boys and top 3 girls.
