Vocab-Tech
There are a number of great and SOPPA-Approved tools that can further the fun and deepen the meaning of our vocabulary, no matter the subject! On this page, we seek to highlight and promote those tools which provide opportunity for classrooms to work collaboratively, play competitively, and provide opportunity to extend beyond the typical feedback of simply knowing you got something right or wrong. As always, if you want your ITS (Emily or Chris) to work with you to use any of these tools, contact either one of them through email or chat!
No matter the tool, take action on the formative data to build understanding. A multiple choice game, for example, can be helpful at a very base level of understanding a word, but the depth comes through meaningful discussion and multi-modal application of those words before, during, and after the game.
Blooket
Overview: Blooket: a new take on trivia and review games! The way it works is that a teacher/host picks a question set and a unique game mode. Then, a code is generated that players can use to join the game on their own devices. After the game starts, players will answer questions to help them win. That’s where the fun starts, because we offer a variety of games to keep students engaged and excited! This is a fun, safe, and collaborative way for students to engage with any variety of vocabulary!

Flashcard Factory (By Peardeck)
Overview: Learning vocabulary with flashcard factory combines the powers of social interaction, creativity, and analysis to both broaden and deepen our understanding of words. Students work together as pairs within a team, taking turns writing and illustrating meaning to produce a refined, memorable, and meaningful set of flashcards that can then be provided to students as an optional study set.
Full-Class Interaction ONLY! The idea of individual construction and practice is NOT part of the pedagogy at work here. Don't worry, there are PLENTY of tools that do just that and most of those do NOT do what this does. :)
