What Do I Do If I Have an Address Change?

In order to change your address, you will need to update the information at the Harlem Administration Center located at 8605 N. 2nd Street, Machesney Park, IL 61115. 

You will need:

Acceptable Verification Documents
A minimum of two (2) documents are required to establish residency, one (1) from each category.
If a utility bill is used to satisfy Category A, the same bill cannot be used to satisfy Category B. No hand-written letters will
be accepted as Legal Rental Agreements or Affidavits. Board approved forms must be used.)

How Do I Get My Skyward Family Access Account Information?

If you have not created an account before, please fill out the Skyward Family Access Request Form.  If you cannot remember your password, visit Skyward Family Access and select "Forgot your Login/Password."  You must use the email address that is on file in Skyward.

Who Can Register a Returning Student Online?

For returning students, parents or guardians listed as Family 1 in Skyward are able to complete the online registration.  Family 1 will not be able to see or edit Family 2 information.  Family 2 must log into Skyward to make edits to their personal information. 

How Do I Register If I Have a Returning Student and a New Student?  

After logging into Skyward, you will see an option to add a new student.  You will complete the registration process for your returning and new students online.  Please note that adding a new student is a two-part process

How Do I Inquire About an In-District Transfer?

The Harlem School District provides parents with an opportunity for their children to attend an alternate school other than their neighborhood school under certain circumstances, providing there is sufficient space in another Harlem elementary school. 

Transfers will only be considered if the child being transferred has a sibling currently attending the requested/receiving school

When Do Elementary Students Need To Be Registered By In Order To Guarantee Placement In Their Home School?

Returning students must be registered by May 31st in order to guarantee placement in their home school.

School Admissions and Student Transfers To and From Out-of-District Schools

Age

To be eligible for admission, a child must be five years old on or before September 1 of that school term. A child entering first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1 of that school term. Based upon an assessment of a child’s readiness to attend school, the District may permit him or her to attend school before these dates. A child will also be allowed to attend first grade based upon an assessment of his or her readiness if he or she attended a non-public preschool, continued his or her education at that school through kindergarten, was taught in kindergarten by an appropriately licensed teacher, and will be six years old on or before December 31. A child with exceptional needs who qualifies for special education services is eligible for admission at three years of age. Early entrance to kindergarten or first grade may also be available through Board policy 6:135, Accelerated Placement Program
