Each August, HCS New Teacher Orientation (NTO) marks the beginning of the Teacher Induction Process for newly-hired staff. NTO is a process that is designed to provide new teachers with the information and resources they need to become familiar with their new school or educational institution, its culture, policies, and procedures.
During Orientation, new teachers and counselors introduced to the division's mission, vision, and goals, as well as our organizational structure and the roles and responsibilities of various staff members. They will receive training on topics such as classroom management, climate and culture, curriculum structures, and teaching methodologies.
Orientation can help newly-hired educators feel more comfortable and confident in their new roles, and can also help them understand the expectations and requirements of their new school and Hampton City Schools. It can also facilitate communication and collaboration among new teachers and other staff members, and help to build a positive and supportive school culture.
