It’s hard to believe that we have already completed the first month of school at Everwood Elementary! This past month has been filled with learning and growth for all of us.
Throughout the month of August, we:
Welcomed over 900 students, including Pre-K
Added new teachers in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade
Implemented and fine-tuned new processes and procedures
Collaborated as a brand-new team to build relationships and plan curriculum together
Now that September is here, we are settling into our new space and routines. We look forward to cooler weather and exciting upcoming events such as:
Curriculum Night on September 16
Color Run on September 19
Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff on September 22
Thank you for your continued support of our school!
Universal Screener information:
HERE is information about the Universal Screener from the county.
For those wondering what the student risk screener scale (SRSS-IE) is...here is a short explanation: The Student Risk Screening Scale - Internalizing and Externalizing (SRSS-IE) is a teacher-completed, universal behavioral screener for K-5 students that helps identify children at risk for internalizing (e.g., sadness, anxiety) and externalizing (e.g., aggression, defiance) behaviors. It is not a diagnostic tool but rather a preventative measure, used two to three times per year to inform instruction, guide decisions on supports and services, and ultimately promote students' social-emotional and academic success by connecting them with appropriate interventions.
When: Kickoff for the fundraiser is September 8th and it will run through September 18th. The Color Run for the students will be September 19th--be on the lookout for more information coming home with your student!
Who: ALL students will be able to participate in the Color Run on the 18th and will be able to earn prizes based on the level of funds they collect.
Why: As a new school we did get a lot of cool things, but there are additional items we would like to purchase to help support our students. Funds raised through the Color Run will be used to:
Purchase ingredients and supplies for our Culinary Class
Provide outdoor shade on our playgrounds
Warmth and Welcome Project: School Beautification
How: How can you help? Read through the Color Run information packet that will go home with your child. Reach out to any of the NEST members to volunteer to help with the organization, setup, and clean up for the actual run, And help your student by supporting the cause and asking friends and family to donate!
ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL at EES
Arrival
Everwood doors open at 7:10am. Our EES teachers will help open car doors until 7:45am.
Please remain in the two car rider lines and refrain from entering the parking lot to release your student and/or walk them across the crosswalk. Know that a few of our students have been given permission to drop off in the parking lot area based on specific needs and challenges.
After 7:45, our teachers will enter the building to begin the day and students will need to exit their cars without teacher assistance and check in through the front office.
Dismissal
Students will be released at 2:20pm each afternoon. To keep cars off of McEver Rd, we ask that you arrive after 2:00pm to begin forming the two car rider lines. Also know that we record car rider numbers and release students based on the lane you are in. If you change lanes after your car rider number has been recorded, your child will be sent to the wrong line and it may cause significant delay.
*We ask for no student checkouts after 2:00pm.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
This application needs to be completed every year, so please do not forget to complete it!
