We're teaming up with Cornerstone Tabernacle, to support local families through our Great Turkey Trot Food Drive--which also counts toward our HCSD Balanced Scorecard service learning requirement!
Starting November 3rd, seven decorated turkey boxes will be placed by the cafeteria. Students can bring non-perishable food items to place in their grade's box each morning through November 14th. We'll share updated standings twice a week on the morning announcements, and the winning grade level will earn a popsicle party on November 17th!
Veterans Day Celebration at Everwood Elementary:
We are excited to honor the brave men and women who have served our country! Everwood Elementary will host a Veterans Day Breakfast on Tuesday, November 11th at 8:15 AM, followed by a schoolwide parade to celebrate our veterans.
We invite the veterans of our Everwood families to join us that morning for breakfast and to be recognized during the parade. In addition, we are creating a special Veterans Slideshow to honor the loved ones of our Everwood students and staff who have served. Families are encouraged to submit a photo of their veteran to be included.
Please use the RSVP and slideshow links below to sign up and share photos by November 7th. We look forward to celebrating our Everwood heroes together!
Fourth and fifth grade students will compete in classroom spelling bees this month. The winners and runners-up from each class will advance to the school-wide competition on November 17th. The school-wide winner will then represent Everwood at the county competition in January. Good luck to all of our talented spellers!
5th grade families, don’t miss the chance to celebrate your child’s final year at Everwood Elementary with a special Yearbook Tribute Ad. Tributes are a wonderful way to highlight your student’s accomplishments and share a heartfelt message they’ll cherish for years to come. All ads can be created and purchased online at EverwoodYearbook.com, and the final deadline to submit is Tuesday, November 11.

This application needs to be completed every year, so please do not forget to complete it!

Lost & Found Items
Our "Lost & Found" is filling up! If your child is missing a jacket, water bottle, or lunchbox, please stop by the front entry to take a look. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of November.
Recyclable Items Needed for STEM
Our STEM students love creating, building, and exploring--but that takes lots of materials. If you'd' like to help, we would love donations of clean, recyclable items and gently used building materials you may already have at home.
We're collecting:
Paper towel or toilet paper tubes
Plastic bottle caps and lids (any size/color)
Clean plastic containers (yogurt cups, coffee cans, etc.)
Small cardboard boxes (tissue, cereal, snack boxes)
Old buttons, beads, or puzzle pieces
Yarn, ribbon, or string scraps
Aluminum foil or wax paper rolls
Empty water bottles (labels removed)
Straws, craft sticks, or pipe cleaners
Unused paper plates or cups
Building toys we can reuse:
LEGO bricks or sets (mixed pieces welcome!)
K’NEX, Lincoln Logs, or Tinkertoys
Magnetic tiles (like Magna-Tiles or Picasso Tiles)
Marble run pieces
Snap Circuits or STEM-style building kits (even with missing parts!)
Thank you for supporting hands-on learning at Everwood Elementary! Every recycled item helps our young engineers dream, design, and build!
Afternoon Car Rider Reminder
For safety and efficiency during dismissal, all afternoon car riders must have their official car rider tag displayed in the vehicle. If the physical tag is not displayed, families will be asked to park and go to the front office to check out their student. Please note that photos of tags or verbal numbers cannot be accepted due to safety protocols. If you need additional car rider tags, please contact the front office for assistance.
Holiday Break Camps at the YMCA
Looking for fun plans for your child over the holiday break? The Georgia Mountains YMCA is offering Holiday Camps filled with festive activities—holiday arts and crafts, STEAM projects, swimming lessons, and plenty of holiday cheer—all in a safe, supervised environment.
Financial assistance and CAPS scholarships are available for families who qualify.
Check out the attached flyer for more details or contact the YMCA for additional information.
Give your child a safe, fun, and memorable holiday break with the YMCA!
Parent Involvement
Arrival and Dismissal at Everwood
Arrival
Everwood doors open at 7:10am. Our EES teachers will help open car doors until 7:45am.
Please remain in the two car rider lines and refrain from entering the parking lot to release your student and/or walk them across the crosswalk. Know that a few of our students have been given permission to drop off in the parking lot area based on specific needs and challenges.
After 7:45, our teachers will enter the building to begin the day and students will need to exit their cars without teacher assistance and check in through the front office.
Dismissal
Students will be released at 2:20pm each afternoon. To keep cars off of McEver Rd, we ask that you arrive after 2:00pm to begin forming the two car rider lines. Also know that we record car rider numbers and release students based on the lane you are in. If you change lanes after your car rider number has been recorded, your child will be sent to the wrong line and it may cause significant delay.
*We ask for no student checkouts after 2:00pm. Thank you!!
